The Forge

The Forge is pure postcard Devon, a 400 year old building that has been sympathetically modernised with all the latest conveniences and stands right in the heart of Georgeham, home to Tarka the Otter author Henry Williamson. It is perfectly located for the golden triangle of beaches at Putsborough, Croyde and Woolacombe with glorious Saunton merely a stones throw further away. If you are a surfer or golfer, or simply love the Devon coastline, this property is a must for you.

Come and stay to release the stress of the daily grind in a 400 year old Forge situated in the village of Georgeham, near Croyde (minutes from the sea!).

The village of Georgeham is nestled between Woolacombe and Croyde and boasts one pub, one restaurant and a great, well stocked village shop.

The Forge House

The Forge house is a converted blacksmith forge and attached barn containing 4/5 bedrooms, a large lounge and dining room and well-equipped kitchen. This accommodation is set over many levels and includes a self contained annex. It is a house of well designed features using many natural materials blending modern with old. The outside space is just as unique offering three ‘garden rooms’

One of the main attractions of the Forge is its location. The nearest beach is the award winning Putsborough Sands approximately one and half miles from the front door.

If surfing is your thing you will appreciate the sounds of the waves from Croyde the well known surf spot whilst at the Forge. The village of Georgeham itself surrounds this property. A few steps up the road takes you to the well stocked village shop and of course the famous Rock Inn.

The Forge House is a perfect place for families to stay in, Georgeham in or out of the summer season. With so many different levels and rooms widely spaced out there is no reason for anyone not to enjoy the time spent there.

The dining room is a converted barn of large proportion with exposed beams and skylights, wooden oak flooring with a new under floor heating system. A dining table here seats 8-10 people and is perfect for those big dinners on a winter’s night.
Off of the dining room are a large twin room and a fitted wardrobe. This room has a door leading to a rustic bunk room. A perfect area for the teenagers!

Also on this floor is the main bathroom featuring a new white suite bath with power shower over and a glass screen, WC hand washbasin, chrome towel warmer and heated tiled flooring for those frosty mornings.

First Floor
Situated on the first floor is the lounge. This is a beautiful cosy room of exposed stone walls, window seats, solid oak floors and a wood burner. Ample seating for everyone around the large 32” TV. This room also has satellite viewing plus a DVD player with full surround..
Access to the Annex is from this room and also the gardens.
The Annex is a separate room from the main house which holds a double bedroom and a wet room with shower, white WC, hand washbasin, chrome towel warmer and heated tiled floor. Ideal for those that want seclusion from the rest of the group!

Second Floor
This floor contains two rooms. A small double with wardrobe and solid oak floors plus the master bedroom. This room has a small ensuite comprising white WC and hand basin, a separate shower room (newly installed) and French doors leading out on to one of the many decks.
Exterior

One of The Forge’s most attractive features is its enclosed decked garden of many levels. It is set out in a series of ‘garden rooms’
– a main leisure area which is a large deck for eating out with table, chairs and parasol (on request), a central area which can be accessed from French doors off of the main bedroom and is perfect for small barbecues (small barby provided) or sitting with a glass of wine or two: and finally the top deck which has a children’s swing but which is also designed to take hammocks (hooks are provided – so don’t forget to bring one if you have one!) where you can take in the sun sets and the countryside views.

The view from the decks of the beautiful village of Georgeham and the surrounding countryside is one you shouldn't miss.
